Andrea Sankey
Following a search in which we failed to identify the ideal candidate, I have decided to appoint Andrea Sankey, the current Senior Executive Director of Public Affairs and External Relations, as the interim Vice President of Development effective immediately. In this interim role, Andrea will oversee the development office and work alongside me to:
- Create and execute a strategic plan for university fundraising and development
- Manage and expand a team of highly-skilled development and development operations professionals
- Elevate cultivation and stewardship opportunities for potential and existing donors
- Identify, attract and retain high-level capacity donors
- Design interdepartmental fundraising operations practices that best support the University’s divisions, programs and colleges
Since joining PVAMU, Andrea has been instrumental in supporting the Office of Development and Development-related matters. Her background as a Development Director at Julia C. Hester House and long-term development leader at Teach for America has well prepared her to lead our current development effort and lay the foundation for the next phase of our fundraising direction.
Candace Johnson
During the interim period, The Office of the President will continue to lead the University’s public affairs matters, including limited consulting with Andrea as she fully embraces the responsibilities of the Office of Development. I’ve asked Candace Johnson, Executive Director of Marketing and Communications, to take on increased responsibilities as it relates to public affairs.
An announcement will be shared with the campus community once the search for a permanent head of development resumes.
