DALLAS (October 3, 2022) – The Prairie View A&M University Panthers controlled the tempo of their fifth consecutive State Fair Classic win Saturday night. The team used a balanced attack to forge a 34-14 Southwestern Athletic Conference victory in front of a crowd of 53,971.

“This was a good win for us,” said Head Football Coach Leonard McDowell. “[But] we didn’t play both halves like I thought we should; we have to play 60 full minutes of football.”

The Panthers only had 289 yards of offense, running off 69 plays. PVAMU, who ranks third in the SWAC in rushing, had 233 rushing yards, scoring two touchdowns.

Ahmad AntoineĀ rushed for 92 yards and one touchdown on 16 carries to pace PVAMU. He also had two receptions for 14 yards. QuarterbackĀ Trazon ConnleyĀ was 9-for-16 passing for just 56 yards and rushed 14 times for 49 yards.Ā 

The defense held Grambling to 119 passing yards. Tre’vion Green led the defense with seven tackles.Ā 

The Panthers will return to Panther Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 8, at 4 p.m., hosting Southern University.Ā
