Global Learning Experiences

Rooted at Prairie View. Ready for the World.

The scholars we serve will spend their careers solving problems that cross borders. The Honors College prepares students to thrive in a global society through study abroad programs, international partnerships, and culturally immersive experiences. Global learning at the Honors College is an invitation to see the world, to be seen by it, and to return home transformed.

Why Global Learning Matters

Every discipline our scholars pursue now operates on a global stage. Engineers collaborate across continents. Educators serve multilingual classrooms. Artists draw from traditions far older and wider than any single nation. Scholars who have navigated another culture bring home more than memories. They bring adaptability, perspective, and the confidence that comes from thriving far outside the familiar. Those qualities distinguish a candidate, a colleague, and a leader.

How Scholars Go Global

  • Study Abroad. Honors scholars pursue semester, summer, and short-term programs around the world, with guidance from the College on selecting experiences that advance their academic and professional goals. Advising support helps scholars identify funding, including nationally competitive scholarships designed to make international study accessible.
  • International Partnerships. Through institutional exchanges and academic collaborations, the Honors College connects scholars with peer institutions abroad, creating pathways for research collaboration, cultural exchange, and shared scholarship across hemispheres.
  • Cultural Immersion at Home. Global learning begins on the Hill. International delegations, visiting scholars, language and cultural programming, and globally themed coursework bring the world to Prairie View, ensuring that every scholar engages across cultures regardless of whether they board a plane.

A Global Legacy

Prairie View's story has always reached beyond Texas, the Honors community has been an architect in that foundation. For sixteen years, our alumni have touched on every at least six continents, and our scholars carry that tradition forward each time they present research abroad, study in a new language, or welcome international partners to our campus. When an Honors scholar steps into the world, the world meets 150 years of excellence.
