PVAMU Graduate Students Selected as 2026–2027 HBCU L.E.A.P. Mentoring Corps Leaders
The Prairie View A&M University graduate students Jasmine Major and Alaina Warrior have been selected as 2026–2027 Mentoring Corps Leaders through the HBCU L.E.A.P. (Leading Education, Advancement, and Practice) Pre-Career Footsteps Mentoring Corps at the HBCU Center for Excellence in Behavioral Health at Clark Atlanta University and is supported by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to strengthen the behavioral health workforce across Historically Black Colleges and Universities. This is a highly competitive program that includes graduate students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities across the country. As Mentoring Corps Leaders, Jasmine and Alaina will each receive a $9,000 stipend and will represent Prairie View A&M University’s Clinical Adolescent Psychology doctoral program by mentoring undergraduate students, participating in professional development, creating behavioral health educational content, and engaging with behavioral health professionals throughout the academic year.
