Irma Fowe, a Senior | Candidate for B.S. Mechanical Engineering, Prairie View A&M University shares her experience through the MSIPP (Minority Service Institution Partnership Program), over her summer internship.

“MSIPP is a consortium supporting Q-Camp, research, internships, and provide scholarships. During my internship with Honeywell at the National Security Campus in Kansas, she applied for the MSIPP scholarship. The application process required:
A recommendation letter from my manager
A second one from an academic professor who knows me well
An essay explaining why I’m the best candidate for this internship,
A submission of my official transcripts to NSC Kansas City that shows that my GPA is over 3.0.

She competed with 110 other students and was one of the 8 students selected for this scholarship. She received $3,500 out of a $15,000 pool. Notably, she was the sole intern representing PVAMU.

Irma Fowe is an honors student in the HP XIII program, a senior Mechanical Engineering major set to graduate in Fall ’23. She is pursuing a 5-year BS/MS Mechanical Engineering degree. Additionally, she is actively involved on campus, participating in various organizations including Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honors Society, serving as a member of the National Humanitarian Council for the academic year 2022-2023, part of Chevron Leadership Academy Cohort I, an Ambassador for Tokyo Electron US (TEL) at PVAMU, and a two-time winner of the BEN Phillips 66 competition (in ’22 and ’23).”
