Welcome
Rebecca Ramirez-Barnes joined Prairie View A&M University in April of 2021 as a bi-lingual Training Specialist in the Texas Juvenile Crime Prevention Center. Rebecca received her BA in Spanish with a minor in Legal Studies from Grand Valley State University, Allendale, Michigan. Rebecca has 21 years of dedicated experience as a case worker. She has served as a Juvenile Detention Center Youth Specialist, a Juvenile Probation Officer III, a Texas Risk Assessment System (TRAS) assessor, a TRAS supervisor, an Adult Felony Probation Officer as well as an Adult Felony Probation Officer Supervisor for adults who suffered from substance use disorder in addition to various other mental health disorders.
Rebecca has years of experience as a trainer and facilitator for court staff, law enforcement officers, probation staff, school resource officers, and educators. She travels throughout Texas, providing workshops to various community professionals, social workers, parents, and caregivers so that they may be more prepared to support and guide the youth in our communities.
Why Attend
The two-hour substance abuse and mental health workshops are on eLearning and in-person platforms. Since 2016, more than 2,200 adults have participated in PVAMU‘s Substance Use, Misuse Disorders, and Mental Health workshops.
Participants will receive 2 hours of General continuing education units.
