DALLAS, TX The Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) College of Agriculture and Human Sciences was one of many universities, organizations, and companies represented at Birdville Center of Technology and Advanced Learning’s (BCTAL) inaugural scholarship event, “Battle of the Blooms.”

The event – hosted in North Richland Hills – featured 163 students from 16 Texas school districts participating in a floral arrangement competition in hopes of winning scholarship money to go towards their future educational endeavors.

Two student groups from BCTAL and Byron Nelson High School decorated flower arrangements with purple and gold PVAMU’s school colors. The floral centerpieces included roses, marigolds, carnations, lilies, button mums, and liatris flowers.

The participants were also able to meet with various universities and companies to discuss their future education prospects. Several high school students were introduced to CAHS and learned about college and university offerings.

After team and individual competitions, three students received scholarships, totaling $500.
