Colleagues of the College of Agriculture and Human Sciences represented the college at the annual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Black Heritage Committee’s 27th Annual Black Heritage Western Gala. The event was held Saturday, February 15, 2020, at the George R. Brown Convention Center. The Black Heritage Committee (BHC) was established as an official Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo committee in 1993, under the name Black Go Texan Committee (BGTC). The founding 50 members united to better serve Houston’s African American community while highlighting the pioneer and Western heritage of black individuals in Houston and throughout the state. The annual black heritage western gala raises funds for scholarships for urban youth.
