Center for Accounting Excellence
The Center for Accounting Excellence prepares students for successful careers in accounting through mentorship, professional certification preparation, industry engagement, and career development opportunities. By connecting students with faculty, accounting professionals, and leading firms, the center expands access to high-demand careers while helping address the national shortage of accounting professionals. The center also promotes outreach, research, and workforce development initiatives that strengthen economic opportunity and support underrepresented communities.
Expected Outcomes
- Student Mentorship & Career Readiness: Connects PVAMU students with faculty mentors, accounting professionals, career exploration and professional development opportunities to address the growing shortage of accountants.
- CPA & Professional Certification Preparation: Provides exam preparation and support for CPA, CMA, and other professional credentials preparing the next generation of accounting professionals.
- Accounting Outreach & Pipeline Development: Engages high school students, key stakeholders and communities to increase awareness of accounting careers and educational pathways.
Investments help create pathways to economic mobility by equipping students with professional credentials, career-ready skills, and access to leadership opportunities within the accounting profession.
The center advances the College of Business’s mission by promoting student success, career mobility, community impact, and workforce development through education, outreach, and industry engagement.
