An interdisciplinary team of students took second place in the inaugural 2017 HBCU Battle of the Brains hosted by the National Black MBA Association Austin Chapter at SXSW held March 10-13, 2017.  The event was designed to bring together “the best and brightest college and graduate school students representing Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs) from around the country.”  Teams competed for cash awards, as well as the title of 2017 HBCU Battle of the Brains Champions.

Clyde McNeil, accounting faculty who worked with the team, remarked, “I have to say our team really put together a STELLAR performance for the Battle of the Brains competition.   Our team was comprised of three engineering students, a political science major, and a finance major and each brought a unique perspective to generate a really nice response to the case all within 24 hours.” Top honors went to Paul Quinn College and PVAMU is looking forward to competing again next year.
