The IBM Skills Academy is designed for academia worldwide. The program helps Prairie View A&M University faculty to provide students with additional skills, giving them an advantage in the job market.  The program also offers a chance for teachers to advance their skills, and pass it on to their students for which they can get worldwide recognition.  Students can access the course material and hands-on training exercises from anywhere using their laptop, phone, tablets etc.

In a recent IBM Skills Academy Workshop, Roy G. Perry ’78, Prairie View A&M Foundation Chairman, and President was recognized for his generous donation to immerse the engineering faculty and students in cutting-edge training in Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Artificial Intelligence is an emerging technological trend with talent in the field in high demand.  AI is expected to create 2.3 million jobs by 2020, replacing the 1.8 million it will eliminate.    IBM industry experts from the IBM skills Academy conducted a week-long workshop in Artificial Intelligence providing a unique chance for the faculty and students to acquire expertise in this area.  Faculty and students who complete the training will become certified in this AI technology.
