Demarcus McGaughey has been awarded The Denis Diderot [A-i-R] Grant and will be participating in a 3 week Artist-in-Residence from 3rd to 24th February, 2021 at Chateau d’Orquevaux. During his residency his artwork will be a part of the chateau’s permanent art collection. Château Orquevaux is a Private residence now owned by the Attias family. It is located in Orquevaux—a commune in the Haute-Marne department in north-eastern France . The Château also functions as a prestigious International Art Residency program hosting Visual artists, Writers and musicians from around the world.
With more than 20 years of experience, Demarcus McGaughey is a skilled creative director, international visual artist and certified life coach specializing in brand coaching. His design expertise ranges from print design to corporate identity to interactive media development and beyond.
A 14-year resident of Brooklyn, New York, Mr. McGaughey hails from Dallas, Texas, where he launched In House Media Group, a full-service design agency specializing in brand development and the parent company of In House Magazine. Eager to expand his reach and skill set, Mr. McGaughey in 2006 closed the magazine and relocated In House Media Group’s offices to Brooklyn, where he continues to grow his portfolio.
As an artist, he has captivated the hearts of art lovers with his unique style with a combination of painting and graphic design. Demarcus continues to explore the many techniques and styles of art in each of his paintings where he uses many color combinations to express the mood and moods of his subject matters.
Having worked with such organizations and brands as Beyoncé Knowles’ Survivor Foundation, T.D. Jakes’ Potter House Church, and beverage giant Dr Pepper, Mr. McGaughey was spotlighted in Adweek Magazine, The Bklyner Magazine, Voyage Magazine and has seen his artwork featured in several New York galleries. In March 2019, he completed an Artist Residency with Mas el sigols located outside of Barcelona, Spain where Demarcus exhibited at the Estudio Nomada Gallery. Recently in 2020 Demarcus completed his residency in Brooklyn with Nfinit Arts Foundation and was a featured artist in The Other Art Fair.
When not designing, Mr. McGaughey, who holds an advertising art degree from Prairie View A&M University, spends his time brand coaching, giving motivational speeches and traveling.
