Andrea Sankey
I am pleased to inform you that Andrea Sankey, former Director of Development and Outreach at Julia C. Hester House, a Fifth Ward Community Center, has now joined the President’s Office staff in the role of Senior Executive Director of Public Affairs and External Relations. In that role, Ms. Sankey will work closely with me to elevate further the University’s visibility and stature by:
- developing and leading the execution of a coordinated plan of information dissemination about the University’s people and programs;
- identifying and promoting high level national and local partnerships;
- working with government relations to advocate for support for the University; and
- assuring that appropriate and relevant information is disseminated to varied constituents.
Andrea holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a post-graduate certification in fund development from the Glasscock School at Rice University. Prior to joining Hester House, over a period of nine years, she served in various positions at Teach for America before becoming Director of Regional Engagement for the national organization. Her duties included forming strategic partnerships and executing mission driven communications efforts for both the Houston region and the national organization. Further, she oversaw event planning and community affairs and advised regions on establishing new operations. Prior to her work at Teach for America, she was employed at Texas Southern University in marketing.
