Since 1995, Verrick has worked as an architectural teacher, researcher, and practitioner. His work within the US Department of Defense, Army Corps of Engineers, Engineering Plans and Services Division at Fort Myer in Washington, D,C, confirmed his belief in the importance of research-informed design, leading him to pursue a doctorate in architecture. He joined the Strategic Consulting group at Page in 2003 as an architectural programmer and planner and, in 2006, began specializing in laboratory planning and design as part of the Science and Technology group. He is now a partner and Laboratory Planning Lead in the Houston office. He has worked on a wide range of project types in the US and abroad totaling more than 14.6 million gross square feet and $6 billion in construction costs. His expertise is research, development, testing, and production facilities for life science, mission critical, petrochemical, and semiconductor clients, with extensive experience in the Middle East. His research and teaching have focused on how visual characteristics of built and natural environments influence human perception, performance, and behavior, including worker productivity, health outcomes, and housing market preferences.
