Join us for an engaging exploration of Black history, family lineage, and institutional legacy through library-led genealogy and pedigree research. This Sesquicentennial program highlights Prairie View A&M University’s enduring role in preserving memory, history, and community from 1876 to 2026. Examining the Genealogy History of Prairie View A&M University. Come to this interactive hands-on presentation about library researching for the genealogy story of Prairie View A&M University from the enslaved of the Alta Vista Plantation to General “Master” Kirby to the pedigree history of the Principals and Presidents and the Unknown ‘Eight’. This evidence-based live session will Explore, Engage and Excite your creativity to looking at the United States Census Records, National Archives and Records Administration, Texas State Historical Association, birth and death certificates, deed and slave records, Slave Schedules, 1700 and 1800 maps of Waller and Austin County and much, much, much more
