PV Faculty Advancement and Curriculum Enhancement (FACE) Academy
This activity will incorporate plans to design a faculty academy that will serve a twofold purpose. The first activity of the Academy will be to offer a series of workshops and webinars to faculty that are interested in alignment and realignment of curricula. Following the series of workshops there will be an annual “Curriculum Institute” designed for teams of faculty that will have the opportunity to align or realign courses in their disciplines that will offer students maximum learning. The first Curriculum Institute will be open to all faculty, however the second Institute will encourage but will not be limited to teams from the STEM disciplines and the realignment with the new curriculum for the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR) program. The third curriculum institute will be invitational to outside institutions seeking assistance with curriculum design. The goal will be to develop a self sustaining invitational “Curriculum Design Institute” after the activity ends.
The second activity of the Academy will be to join with the Office of Research and offer a Institute for teams of faculty and graduate students that are interested in submitting proposals for grant funding. The four day institute will follow a series of informational workshops directed by representatives from funding agencies. During the Institute, the teams will write the draft of the proposal and a mock team will review and provide feedback. This will allow the writers to revise and prepare for submission. The goal is to increase the number of submissions by teams of faculty and graduate students.
