Nojeim , Michael Ph.D.
Dr. Michael J. Nojeim is Program Coordinator and Associate Professor of Political Science at Prairie View A & M University. He received his Ph.D. in International Relations from American University in Washington, D.C. He teaches a wide range of Political Science courses including American Government, International Relations, Comparative Politics, U.S. Foreign Policy, Gandhi and King, and Political Studies through Film. His areas of specialization include Nonviolence, Middle East Politics, and U.S. Foreign Policy. He has published scholarly articles on international relations and on nonviolence. His first book, Gandhi and King: The Power of Nonviolent Resistance, was published in 2004. His second book, co-authored with David P. Kilroy, is called Days of Decision: Turning Points in U.S. Foreign, and was published in 2011. His third book, co-authored with Frank D. Jackson, Down That Road: A Pictorial History of Prairie View A&M University, was published in 2011.
Dr. Nojeim also actively serves the academy, the university community and the Houston area as well. He was a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Gandhi Studies. He has served as the Chair or member of many Division and University committees, such as the President’s Annual Symposium Committee, the University Core Curriculum Committee, the Division Strategic Plan Committee, the Division Accreditation Committee, multiple Faculty Search Committees, and many more. He also served as President of the Board of the Decade of Nonviolence—Houston from 2005 – 2009. He is also the Faculty Advisor to several student clubs and organizations on campus, such as the the Model United Nations Club.
