This competition has been going on for several years; however, in 2024, Prairie View A&amp;M University sent its first group of students to the competition. Mackenzee Deere, Amarys Diamond-Danae Royal, and the group were placed second in the overall competition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">This year, four groups of students from the School of Public and Allied Health represented the University after a rigorous two-week training process. The group consists of undergraduate students Shearyl Smith, Mackynzee Jolene Deere, Myles Lathan Edwards, Tylyn Mashara Holliness, Trenton Lee Castillo, Cydni Marica-Mattie Miller, Stacy Atwemaa Owusu, Kourtney C Mayes, Amarys Diamond-Danae Royal, and graduate students Asia Walker and Mikayla Rose Jones. <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The public health students were engaged<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> in extensive case analysis, literature review, stakeholder analysis, and solution-based planning. <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The students were mentored and trained by<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> Dr. Andrea McDonald and Ms. Shakirat Adetomiwa.<\/span> <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">During the mock presentation sessions,<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> Dr. Kentya Ford and Catherine Kisavi-Atatah were present and provided support.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-527\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pvamu.edu\/spah\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/204\/2025\/09\/students2.jpg\" alt=\"Students\" width=\"1025\" height=\"749\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pvamu.edu\/spah\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/204\/2025\/09\/students2-200x146.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.pvamu.edu\/spah\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/204\/2025\/09\/students2-300x219.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.pvamu.edu\/spah\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/204\/2025\/09\/students2-400x292.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.pvamu.edu\/spah\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/204\/2025\/09\/students2-600x438.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.pvamu.edu\/spah\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/204\/2025\/09\/students2-768x561.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.pvamu.edu\/spah\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/204\/2025\/09\/students2-800x585.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.pvamu.edu\/spah\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/204\/2025\/09\/students2.jpg 1025w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1025px) 100vw, 1025px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The 2025 SOPHE Case Study Competition <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">took place<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> between April 14 and 18, 2025, in Long Beach, California, and on the Zoom virtual platform, where teams from across the nation presented their findings and proposed solutions to a panel of public health experts and practitioners. A total of 14 universities and 22 groups across the <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">nation<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> entered the competition. The case study focused on the growing chlamydia cases in Long Beach, requiring multi-level intervention strategies to reduce the prevalence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">We <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">are proud to<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> announce that\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">both student groups (graduate and undergraduate) from Prairie View A&amp;M University placed first<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> in the competition based on their categories. \u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Not only did the students place first, but the graduate student also<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> received the program design award overall.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> Here are the details:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Graduate Students winners (Gold) &#8211; Best program design overall<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Mikayla Rose Jones<br \/>\n<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Asia Walker<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Undergraduate Student winners (Gold)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Shearyl Smith<br \/>\n<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Kourtney C.
