Service-learning is an excellent way to engage material in the classroom by providing students an opportunity to make their academic studies immediate and applicable.  Students use academic concepts and link them to actual community problems. Instructors that use service-learning in their classrooms experience a higher level of enthusiasm and engagement by our students that result in an enhanced understanding and retention of the material.

Service-learning in the classroom:
