miss-pv-2016newThe 84th Miss Prairie View A&M University Jeaiza Maria Quiñones is a native of St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands who has found her purpose and passion in the arts, music, writing and community service. An active student within PVAMU’s Department of Language and Communications, she is currently working toward a Bachelor of Arts in English. Since her tenure at Prairie View A&M University began she has been active with the Prairie View A&M University Marching Storm and other musical ensembles, serving as a section leader, student director, and as a proud member of Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority Incorporated. She is also a blogger and writer who was honored in 2015 by becoming a contributor to The Huffington Post. As a Prairie View student she has developed a love and passion for gender equality, female empowerment, and the empowerment of women of color in particular; something she believes is uniquely powerful on the campus of her beloved university.

Her platform, Hello Queen, seeks to uplift, empower, and educate the campus of Prairie View A&M University which boasts a majority female population. As Miss Prairie View A&M University she seeks to uplift women who are often faced with adversity, double standards, and limitations unique to their gender. She hopes to empower women with the mindset that EVERY student on the campus of PVAMU is deserving of a platform and a voice. Her platform also seeks to educate all Prairie View students about the importance of gender equality, sexual assault awareness and domestic violence awareness; issues which often secretly plague college students who are unaware of the multiple outlets that are available to assist them. In an effort to further publicize her platform she has launched a website which serves as an outlet for women to express themselves and their thoughts via a public blog (www.HelloQueen.me) as well as the #HelloQueen campaign which aims to send out uplifting messages to women all across the world from both men and women who share their struggles. As Miss Prairie View A&M University, Jeaiza is also passionate about preserving the legacies and platforms of the exemplary women who came before her for generations to come.

“I truly believe that even the greatest woman needs a mirror within another to discover her greatest potential.” – Jeaiza Maria Quiñones
