Available Transfer Guide Book Scholarships

*All Transfer Guide and Direct Connect Awards are reoccurring for 4 semesters.

  1. Degree Distinguished Transfer Scholarship
    $3600 per year*
    Cum GPA of 3.5 with an AA, AS, AAS.
  2. Degree Transfer Recognition Scholarship
    $3000 per year*
    Cum GPA of 3.25 with an AS, AS, AAS.
  3. Degree Transfer Achievement Scholarship
    $2400 per year*
    Cum GPA of 3.0 with an AA, AS, AAS.
  4. Distinguished Transfer Scholarship
    $2400 per year*
    Cum GPA of 3.5 with a minimum of 24 non-PVAMU col- lege hours completed.
  5. Transfer Recognition Scholarship
    $1800 per year*
    Cum GPA of 3.25 with a minimum of 24 non-PVAMU college hours completed.
  6. Transfer Achievement Scholarship
    $1200 per year*
    Cum GPA of 3.0 with a minimum 24 non-PVAMU college hours completed.
  7. Transfer Incentive Award
    $1000 per year*
    Cum GPA of 2.5-2.99 with 15 transferable semester credit hours; STARR exempt or all sections passed.

Available Direct Connect Scholarships

  1. 45 transferable hours GPA 2.5
    $2500 per year*
  2. Associate’s Degree GPA 2.0-2.99
    $4000 per year*
  3. Associate’s Degree GPA 3.00-4.00
    $5000 per year*

Non-renewable One Time Award Scholarships

  1. Opportunity Scholarship Criteria
    Texas Resident and U.S Citizens Only.
    30 transferable semester hours and 2.75 GPA.
    $5000 One Time Award – Non-Renewable.
  2. Opportunity Scholarship Criteria II
    Texas Resident and U.S Citizens Only.
    30 transferable semester hours and 2.5 GPA.
    $3500 One Time Award – Non-Renewable.

Eligibility Criteria

  • For Transfer Guide Book Scholarship:
    The Transfer Guide Scholarship is a Fall to Fall Scholarship for first time college or university transfer students to PVAMU.
  • For Direct Connect Transfer Scholarship:
    The Direct Connect Transfer Scholarship is a Fall to Fall Scholarship for first time transfer. Students who are US Citizens, and a Texas resident, transferring from a community college in Texas.

Criteria to be used for evaluation for Direct Connect and Transfer Guide Scholarships will be;

  • Students who are enrolled in the Direct Connect Program.
  • Students date of acceptance to PVAMU.
  • Academic Transcript(s).

A special note for students who are completing an Associate’s Degree;

  • Community college transcript(s) must be updated to reflect an Associates Degree and received by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions by June 15.

As a requirement for this scholarship;

  • Students cannot apply for the Transfer Scholarship funding, after the application deadline has passed.
  • Students are not eligible for multiple Transfer Scholarships, only one will be awarded.
  • Student understands they may be asked to volunteer in the Office of Recruitment during the tenure of their scholarship.

How Do I Apply:

Steps to Apply For Direct Connect & Transfer Guide Scholarships.

  1. Apply for Admissions: Submit an Apply-Texas Transfer Application. School Code 0033360 (check)
  2. Pay the $40.00 application fee.
  3. Submit other required documentation.
  4. Submit all official transcripts from all schools attended.
  5. Associates Degree documentation, if applicable.
  6. Gain admission to PVAMU (Applicant will not be considered if not admitted).
  7. Activate your PV email address and begin to check it daily. Activation instructions are stated in your admissions congratulatory letter.
  8. Complete and submit a Direct Connect Enrollment Form, include your letter of acceptance to PVAMU.

Apply for Admission:

To be eligible for the Direct Connect Scholarship,

  • Complete an application for admission at applytexas.org.
  • Submit all official transcripts from all colleges attended.
  • Pay the $40.00 application fee.
  • Students must be admitted to the University

Direct Connect Award notifications:

Beginning the week of July 30th, Direct Connect Scholarship Award notifications will be emailed to students.

AWARD CONDITIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Be sure to read the materials accompanying your award letter for conditions attached to your award. You must accept the Terms and Conditions of your award before funds can be disbursed. A Direct Connect, Transfer Guide, or Opportunity scholarship agreement must be signed and returned before funds will be disbursed.

Direct Connect Disbursement:

Direct Connect Scholarship is offered through the Office of Recruiting, but is disbursed by the Office of Student Financial Aid. Direct Connect awards made for the academic year are usually disbursed in two installments; one at the beginning of the fall semester, and the second, at the beginning of the spring semester; you must be registered in a minimum of 12 credit hours to be eligible for a Direct Connect scholarship. If your award is made after the semester has begun, funds will be disbursed electronically within 48 to 72 hours after signing and returning your scholarship agreement to the Office of Recruitment, in Evans Hall Room 120.

Summer School:

Direct Connect Scholarship is not available for summer. It is only dispersed during the fall and spring semesters.
