The report responded to the U.S. Department of Education\u2019s requirements (1) that accrediting bodies continuously monitor institutions to ensure compliance and (2) that accrediting bodies have a mechanism for reviewing multiple sites initiated since last reaffirmation. Compliance requirements spanned areas such as the number of full-time faculty and institutional effectiveness of educational programs to program length and recruitment materials, among many others.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the Fifth-Year Report, the University submitted its Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) Impact Report on iREAD. The report included a reflection on what PVAMU learned as a result of the QEP experience. The iREAD participants\u2019 retention rate was, on average, 81.75% while that of the freshman cohort for the same period was 66.75%. For iREAD participants, there was a 15% greater retention rate than that of the freshman cohort. Data illustrated that the graduation rate for the 2011 freshman cohort was 13% compared to 19% for the iREAD participants, which is 6% higher. As noted in the report, the iREAD program blended the organization, academic and co-curricula content, design, personnel, image, and general support needed to move the needle on student success.<\/p>\n<p>The Office for Institutional Accreditation (OFIA) staff members include Dr. E. As explained by SACSCOC, \u201cThe Fifth-Year Interim Report was developed to respond to the U.S. Department of Education\u2019s requirements (1) that accrediting bodies continuously monitor institutions to ensure compliance and (2) that accrediting bodies have a mechanism for reviewing multiple sites initiated since last reaffirmation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Compliance requirements span areas such as the number of full-time faculty and institutional effectiveness of educational programs to program length and recruitment materials. Sub-committees have been established and chairs and co-chairs have convened meetings to assess the current compliance status with each of the required core, comprehensive, and federal standards.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the Fifth-Year Report, the University must establish a QEP Impact Report on iREAD, the University\u2019s Quality Enhancement Plan. The report will include a reflection on what PVAMU has learned as a result of the QEP experience.<\/p>\n<p>Placed at the level of the Office of the President, OFIA is the hub unit responsible for collaborating with other administrative units regarding the coordination of activities, programs, and reporting undergirding institution-wide systematic, ongoing planning and assessment in academic, support, and administrative components.<\/p>\n<p>OFIA staff members include Dr. E. Tempton, Sr., Memorial Student Center. The theme was \u201cThe Best Is Yet To Come: Reimagining and Reinventing to Provoke Greater Growth and Quality.\u201d Leaders came together to benefit from presentations by vice presidents on achievements made between 2010-15, to examine current University data along with national, state, and local initiatives that affect the University\u2019s future, and to facilitate broad-based involvement in planning for the next strategic plan for 2015-2020.<\/p>\n<p>Special guest speakers included Mr. Kevin McGinnis, Executive Director, Risk Management and Benefits Administration, Texas A&amp;M University System, and Mr. Harry E. Johnson, Sr., President\/CEO, The Memorial Foundation. McGinnis\u2019 presentation focused on demographics data showing PVAMU\u2019s enrollment and trends in the Texas population, including projected population changes between 2010 and 2040. Johnson shared his experiences raising more than $100 million needed to complete the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial on the National Mall in Washington D. C. Topics for the week included the public information act, ethics, travel, audits, and more.
