Nursing Accreditation Visit Update

“At the meeting of the CCNE Board of Commissioners on May 3-5, 2016, it was confirmed and announced that the PVAMU College of Nursing met all four accreditation standards:  Mission and Governance; Institutional Commitment and Resources; Curriculum and Teaching-Learning Practices; and Assessment and Achievement of Program Outcomes; and, for all four program components:  BSN, MSN, DNP, and Post Master’s Certificate for the Advanced Practice Nurse (Family Nurse Practitioner).  Also, the CCNE Board additionally determined that there are NO COMPLIANCE CONCERNS WITH RESPECT TO THE KEY ELEMENTS.” 

 

The appraisal of the BSN and MSN Programs was for Continuing Accreditation.

The appraisal of the DNP (Doctor of Nursing Practice Program) was for Initial Accreditation.

The appraisal of the Post Master’s Certificate Advanced Practice Nurse Program (Family Nurse Practitioner) was a new accreditation review (required by State and Federal Statutes) for programs serving master’s educated nurses who are seeking certification as an APRN.
