The U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics’ Crime and Justice Data Online offers state and local data on crime trends, homicide trends, and law enforcement. Included are: Crime trends from the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reports

[by State including U.S. totals (since 1960) and by reporting local agency (since 1985)]; Homicide trends and characteristics [by State (since 1976) and by local agencies with a population coverage of >250,000 (since 1985)] and Law Enforcement Management and Administrative Statistics (including State agencies and large local agencies (100 or more sworn officers)].

The National Archive of Criminal Justice Data (NACJD) is a special topic archive of the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) at the University of Michigan. NACJD acquires, archives, processes, and provides access to electronic criminal justice data collections for research and instruction. The NACJD Web site provides downloadable access to hundreds of criminal justice data collections free of charge.
