PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas– The Prairie View A&M volleyball team will return to action to mark the opening weekend of conference play.

This will be the first of two Southwestern Athletic Roundups. The first of the two will be held on the campus of Southern University in Baton Rouge this weekend.

"This weekend is so important for us," said head PVAMU volleyball coach TaCho Tyler. "I think we had a tough non-conference season, but I think that we should be better for this weekend. I definitely think we are prepared. It doesn't matter who's on the other side of the net. We will be prepared to play."

The first match is set for ‪3 p.m., on Friday, Sept. 21 against defending SWAC champion Alabama State, and then the team will return to play facing Alcorn State for ‪a 7 p.m. nightcap.

Saturday, the Lady Panthers will open play against Mississippi Valley State for ‪a 12:30 p.m., match up. They will end the day with a match against Alabama A&M, the second seeded team from last season, that the Lady Panthers defeated moving them to the semifinals.

PVAMU will complete the weekend on Sunday when they face the Jackson State Tigers for ‪a 3 p.m., match.
