Addie Sarah McGrew Endowed Scholarship


Major: Education (All classifications)
Preference should be given to students majoring in Elementary School Education. The applicant must have a 2.50 cumulative GPA. The applicant must have a major GPA of 2.50. The scholarship should be awarded to students with a need-based reason for seeking financial assistance (lack of financial resources) and from a low income family.


Aquila Mcgrew, Jr. Endowed Scholarship


Major: Education (All classifications)
Preference should be given to students majoring in elementary school education. The applicant must have a 2.50 cumulative GPA. The scholarship should be awarded to students with a need-based reason for seeking financial assistance (lack of financial resources) and from a low income family.


Butler Family Endowed Memorial Scholarship


Major: Education
The applicant must be a U.S. Citizen, high school graduate and accepted for enrollment as a full time student (minimum 12 semester hours) at PVAMU. The applicant must not have any juvenile or criminal convictions. Once the student has been admitted, he/she must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.50 to continue as a scholarship recipient and must maintain acceptable behavior and conduct. Inappropriate conduct, as defined by the University Code of Conduct, may result in scholarship termination.

The applications packet is to include the following items:

  1. a letter, statement, or tuition receipt from the university verifying that the applicant is accepted for enrollment as an undergraduate student on a full-time basis;
  2. a composition of 300 words or less to include:
    • the reason for attending Prairie View A&M University;
    • significant high school and/or community accomplishments; and
    • plans for participation in student or extra curricula activities;
  3. three letters of recommendation from any one of the following persons:
    • high school administrator (Principal, counselor, teacher);
    • College professor/faculty member; and
    • community leader (pastor, civic leader, etc.).

Caesar A. & Estella Dial Endowed Scholarship


Major: Agriculture or Education (All undergraduate classifications)
The applicant must hold a 2.50 cumulative GPA. The scholarship is for students with a need-based reason for seeking financial assistance (lack of financial resources) and from a low income family.


Dr. Bill E. Orman Graduate Fellowship


Major: Educational Leadership (Graduate students)
The applicant must be a U.S. Citizen and have a 4.00 semester GPA and a minimum of 3.50 for the cumulative GPA. The applicant must show proof of exhibiting public service with youth outside of the school or in the community. The applicant must submit essay from pre-listed set of topics.


George Meador Endowed Scholarship


Major: Education (Undergraduates only)
The applicant must be a full-time student with a minimum major GPA of 2.50, minor GPA of 2.50 or high school GPA of 2.5. Additionally, the applicant must be involved in extracurricular activities and have a financial need.


James & Patricia Solomon Scholarship


Major: Education
The scholarship is for student from the Detroit, MI area. The applicant must have a minimum 2.50 GPA in the major; a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 and a minimum high school GPA of 3.50 with SAT scores of 1200 and above or ACT scores of 23 and above.


Kimberly René Scott Endowed Scholarship for Education Majors


Major: Education (Juniors and Seniors)
The applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher with a semester GPA of 2.50 or higher and should be enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours during the semester of the receipt of the scholarship.


M. Paul Mehta Endowment Scholarship


Major: Interdisciplinary Studies
Undergraduate junior or senior. The applicant must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00.


National Prairie View Alumni Teacher Education Scholarship Fund


Major: Education
The scholarship recipient will be selected based on both merit and financial need. The applicant must have a 2.5 GPA and must be in the top 25% of his or her high school graduating class. The applicant must be currently enrolled full-time (12 hours; 6 hours, if student teaching) and a current student.


Rebecca E. Wright Endowed Scholarship


Major: Nursing or Education
The applicant must be a Texas resident and have a 3.00 cumulative GPA or higher and must have at least 60 hours completed. The applicant must be active in an extra-curricular activity.


Texas Quality Enhancement Endowed Scholarship


Major: Education (Undergraduate)
The applicant must pursue a teaching certificate and be willing to teach in a “high need” area; (e.g., school in which 50% or more of the enrolled students are eligible for reduce lunch).
