Whitlowe R. Green College of Education
The Whitlowe R. Green College of Education has a legacy of producing some of the nation’s most distinguished teachers, counselors, principals, diagnosticians and superintendents. Our undergraduate teacher education programs prepare candidates for positions in public and private schools as well as in other institutional or organizational settings that promote the educational development and well-being of culturally diverse children and youth. We have established courses and programs that reach into the community and make a difference while simultaneously increasing the number of graduate students in our college.
Screening and Panel Discussion
The Tower Road Bus
You are invited to attend the historic film screening and panel discussion of the “Tower Road Bus” hosted by the WRGCOE. The “Tower Road Bus” is an award-winning documentary film on Prairie View A&M University Alumnus, Dotson Burns, Jr. Mr. Burns is the former principal who became the first African-American principal of a majority-white school in Prince George’s County, Maryland.
Mr. Burns will be present at the film screening and panel discussion. The event is scheduled from 6pm – 9pm, April 19, 2023 at the Juvenile Justice Auditorium.
Educator Preparation Program
The Whitlowe R. Green College of Education Educator Preparation Program and Services is designed to offer training, support, and field experiences to prospective candidates interested in pursuing a variety of initial teacher certifications and/or professional level certifications. All candidates are provided opportunities for learning, study, professional growth, research, and collaboration with local school districts and professional organizations. Candidates may seek initial teacher certification through our traditional undergraduate program, or through the Alternative Teacher Certification Program. Professional certifications are offered for masters level candidates who meet admission requirements for the educational diagnostician, school counselor, principal, or superintendent programs. We strive to produce educators and administrators who will have a positive impact on diverse student populations, schools, families, and the community. Our Educator Preparation Services Office will assist you with Program Admission, Field Experiences (Clinical Teaching, Internship, or Practicum) as well as TExES examination preparation, and certification.
