Annual Research Symposium

Willie A. Tempton Memorial Student Center (MSC) Ballroom, Prairie View A&M University
The 15th Annual Research Symposium this year is part of PVAMU Research Week in coordination with the Office of Research, Innovation, and Sponsored Programs (ORISP).  The 15th Annual Research Symposium is an opportunity for you to experience presenting your work (maybe for the 1st time) in an environment where you can learn from your peers as well as receive valuable feedback from faculty.

Participants:

  • PVAMU Undergraduate and graduate students from all disciplines
  • PVAMU Mentors/advisors from all majors
  • Off-campus invited students from other colleges and universities.

Eligibility:

  • Students who have previously been involved in a research project (e.g., summer research program) or are currently working with a faculty mentor are especially encouraged to submit an abstract for consideration.
  • If you are starting your research project this spring semester, you can still submit an abstract.  Think about what outcomes you might anticipate or if you have preliminary results, feel free to report that.

Requirements:

  • Work with your mentor/advisor to write the abstract.
  • Submit an abstract endorsed by your mentor/advisor, following the guidelines provided before or by the due date of February 24, 2020.
  • Prepare symposium poster, paper, panel discussion, or workshop presentation.
  • Be on time for your scheduled presentation (if accepted) on April 14, 2020.

 Awards:

  • Winners selected for outstanding poster presentations for both undergraduate and graduate students will be recognized at a Banquet and Awards Ceremony scheduled for April 16, 2020.

  • Step 1:
    • Read and review required “Developing your Abstract and Poster” PowerPoint presentation
  • Step 2:
    • Complete and submit your registration and abstract by February 24, 2020 to the organizing Committee. No late applications will be accepted
