Welcome to CECSTR

I extend a very warm welcome to you for visiting our center’s website. The Center of Excellence for Communication Systems Technology Research (CECSTR) is a Texas A&M Board of Regents approved center since July 2003. CECSTR’s vision is to be a State and National resource in the selected aspects of Communication Systems research and education for the State of Texas, the Nation, our industry sponsors, government agencies and academia.

CECSTR’s mission is to conduct comprehensive research in the selected aspects of communication systems, Wavelets and Wavelet Transforms, Smart & Connected Cities Technologies, Internet of Things (IoTs), AI and ML, Blockchain, Compressed Sensing/Compressive Sampling Systems, DSP Solutions, Signal/Image/Video Processing, Mixed Signal Systems, and High Speed (Broadband) Communication Systems by way of algorithm developments, modeling, simulation, analysis, design, testing and performance evaluation and to support technology transfer to our sponsors.. CECSTR supports and trains students by recruiting talented students, awarding assistantships and creating pipelines with the industry partners for students’ placements.

CECSTR’s current research areas include but not limited to the following: Smart & Connected City Technologies Research, Communication Systems & Signal/ Image/Video Processing, Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoTs), Blockchain Technologies and Applications, Intrusion Detection, Edge/Fog/Cloud Computing, Wavelet & Wavelet Transform-based Research, Wireless Communications (cellular, ad-hoc and sensor nets), Broadband Telecommunication Interoperability & Verification Research, Compressed Sensing/Compressive Sampling Systems, Analog & Mixed Signal Test and Evaluation, Cybersecurity Security Systems (cyber-physical systems), Communication Security, and Communication Systems & Communication Control Systems.

The Center has about 10,000 square feet of research laboratory and office space with the state-of-the-art facilities. The Center researchers have published over 400 journals, peer-reviewed papers, technical reports from the funded projects, books & book chapters, and various patents. The research partners include but not limited to the following: Texas Instruments, Sprint, NASA, ARMY, ITG, CSGF, US Air Force, L-3 Communications, Northrop Grumman, NSF, Copharix LLC, HP, Oracle, Littronics Inc., and more than 10 Universities including Universities outside USA.

CECSTR was instrumental in the establishment of ECE PhD Program at Prairie View A&M University. It has impacted more than 25 PhD Students, Over 80 MS Students and 200 undergraduate students since 2000. In terms of research Grants, CECSTR has exceeded more than $25M since 2000. The center will continue on educating the State’s future leaders in the emerging technological areas necessary for our industries, institutions and for the economic growth of the State of Texas and the Nation. Efforts continue to aspire to establishing more partnerships with industry and various national security agencies. In addition, the Center will continue to aspire to having very seasoned professionals from both industry and academia as advisory board members. We welcome collaborations with industry partners and with you in any future projects, you may have.
