Summer JumpStart Program:  A Bridge to Excellence is a five-week Summer Session II academic program designed for incoming freshmen in the College of Agriculture and Human Sciences. The program is free of charge to participants and provides the following benefits and opportunities:

  • Earn six credit hours (two courses) of college level coursework
  • Experience residence life on campus
  • Meet new people and build new friendships
  • Enhance teamwork skills through interaction with other students in the summer cohort
  • Experience high level of academic success during transition to college life
  • Free room, board, tuition and fees
  • Gain professional development skills through workshops and activities

Course Credits to be Earned

  • ENGL 1123: Freshman Composition I
  • AGHR 1303: Land Grant System and Food Security

Selection Criteria

  • Acceptance to the University
  • Be an incoming freshman majoring in the College of Agriculture and Human Sciences
  • Students with a minimum 2.75 overall high school grade point average will be given priority
  • Teacher or counselor recommendations
  • SAT/ACT scores will be considered
