March 18 – Prairie View A&M University’s College of Agriculture and Human Sciences presents the all-new Information and Impact Center (IIC) and its Interim Director, Dr. Paul M. Johnson.

Officially launched in February, the revamp of the unit formerly known as the Department of Marketing, Communications and IT (DOMCiT) will undergo changes in how the College disseminates and presents information regarding the work being done on campus and in the 34 counties across the state that the Cooperative Extension Program serves. Under Johnson’s leadership, the Department will continue to produce quality content that highlights CAHS’ work and achievements. The IIC creates all written, media, and promotional material for CAHS. This includes brochures, booklets, videos, flyers, posters, news article and much more.

Johnson, a long-time employee of Prairie View A&M University, has held a number of roles in the CAHS including Computer Specialist/Research Specialist for the Cooperative Agricultural Research Center and Cooperative Extension Program. He has also served as Animal Science Instructor and Research Technician for the University. With his experience and abilities in graphic design, video editing, and photography, Johnson plans to make the department the premiere marketing and communications unit of all 1890 institutions by blending agriculture and technology in unprecedented ways.

Johnson plans to enhance communications and marketing of the College by creating a better process of communicating the College’s activities to students, staff, stakeholders, alumni and the community. He will lead the unit with the support of his favorite quote, “It is better to be prepared for an opportunity and not have one, than to have an opportunity and not be prepared for it. Where others see challenges, I see opportunity.”

The IIC is under the new Office of Advancement and Strategic Initiatives (OASIS) umbrella.

This work was supported by the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture, 1890 Extension Formula Program projects under Section 1444.
