Kudos Jamboree

College of Agriculture & Human Sciences new Dean and Director of Land Grants, Dr. Gerard D’Souza, was introduced to the college in grand fashion at the recent Kudos Jamboree. The event held to show appreciation for the College of Agriculture & Human Science’s alumni, faculty, staff, and students also officially welcomed the new Dean, D’Souza to the campus.

Kudos Jamboree proved to be the start of a new direction CAHS is taking to show better support of everything that members of the college contribute to its success. Prairie View A&M University President Ruth Simmons was a special guest and encouraged attendees to be in continuous support of building up CAHS and providing more opportunities for students to grow and learn.

The event’s festive atmosphere also set the stage for what the college hopes will be a sort of mantra for future Kudos Jamborees. Supporters did their part in helping to shape the event into one in which money is raised for the college to create scholarship opportunities for its students. “Two staff members, Dr. Samuel Sampson and Dr. Flavio Ribeiro, took the initiative to lead the way by making donations to support this Kudos Jamboree and future Kudos Jamboree events,” said event co-chair LaRachelle Smith. Both were able to write checks and deliver to Dean D’Souza who was grateful his staff took the initiative to start something so meaningful.

The event also allowed various students to showcase their research and projects throughout the Agriculture-Business Multi-purpose Building which provided attendees the opportunity to see the impact of the work being done within the college. With future Kudos Jamborees, CAHS hopes the support will grow and more alumni, faculty, and staff, will feel compelled to donate not only monetarily, but in time, and resources as well.
