Prairie View A&M University has joined efforts with the Internal Revenue Service to increase earned income tax credit (EITC) awareness and education. Through the VITA program, Prairie View A&M University College of Business volunteers provide free tax preparation services for individuals and families, students, senior citizens, and others in Waller County.

PVAMU VITA Mission Statement

The Prairie View A & M University Volunteer Income Tax Assistance or “VITA” program provides free, high-quality income tax preparation assistance to low-to-moderate-income households (generally $64,000 and below) who do not have access to affordable tax preparation services. Through this community outreach program, the College of Business seeks to fulfill the needs of Waller County and Greater Houston area residents while creating a rewarding experience for volunteers to receive training and put their learning into practice. This is an important strategy for the AACSB-accredited COB to fulfill its “societal impact” mission and provide community service opportunities through “experiential learning” for our undergraduate and graduate students.
