Former Calvary Day and Prairie View A&M standout Alexus Parker has been named the new girls basketball coach at South Effingham High School.Parker takes over the Mustang program after serving as an assistant at her alma mater, Calvary Day School. She also served as head coach at St. Andrew's School and as an assistant at Savannah Country Day.This summer, Parker is playing in the Atlanta Entertainment Basketball League Women's Pro-Am.While in college, Parker earned All-American honors at Prairie View A&M. As a senior, she averaged 16 points per game.She was an all-state player in high school. Parker averaged 23 points per game as a senior at Calvary Day, helping lead the Cavaliers to the Final Four.Parker inherits a South Effigham program that hasn't had a winning season since 2016.The Mustangs won just seven games last season.
