MADISON, ALA -- Behind a first-place west division finish in the Southwestern Athletic Conference standings, the Prairie View A&M baseball team received a duo of individuals awards Tuesday.

Seniors second baseman
Andrew Garcia and outfielder
Xavier Jefferson earned All-SWAC second team honors.

Garcia a Chicago, Ill native started in 21 of just 28 of the Panthers games this season, while posting a team-leading .333 batting average. He is tied for the team-lead in hits with 25 and 15 RBI respectively. In the field, Garcia was nearly flawless, committing just five errors while recording 38 putouts and making 52 assists.

Southfield, Mich., native Jefferson was a solid presence in the outfield. He holds a .329 batting average which is good for second on the team. Behind Garcia, Jefferson has 24 hits and six RBI on the 2021 season. Defensively he holds a .968 fielding percentage with 29 putouts and one assist.

The Panthers will close the SWAC Tournament first round Wednesday, against Alcorn State at Toyota Field in Madison, Ala. The first pitch is set for 6 p.m.
