Following the departure of Vice President for Student Affairs Tim Sams and in view of the ongoing search for his successor, I have asked Steve Ransom to assume the role of Interim Vice President for Student Affairs, effective immediately and continuing until a permanent appointment is made and the individual chosen for that position takes office.
Mr. Ransom currently serves as Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students at Prairie View. In this current capacity, he oversees six departments: Student Conduct, Parent and Family Programs, Panthers Fostering Success, Multicultural Affairs/LGBTQ Resources, the Office of Veteransā Services, and Recreational Sports.
As Interim Vice President, Steve will report to me and carry out the principal duties of the position, including:
⢠serving on the Presidentās Cabinet;
⢠providing overall leadership for Student Affairs and coordinating its programs and services;
⢠working with Academic Affairs, Athletics, Residential Life, and UPD to assure consistent student policy implementation;
⢠attending Board of Regents meetings as needed and coordinating student policy with the TAMU System;
⢠representing the University externally as assigned by the President; and
⢠continuing to expand opportunities for our students through additional internships, high impact practices, extra-curricular opportunities, and so on.
Steve Ransom holds an MS in Education and a BA in Telecommunications from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana.
