PRAIRIE VIEW – The Prairie View A&M football team cruised to a resounding 51-0 homecoming victory over Virginia-Lynchburg Saturday afternoon at Panther Stadium.
The Panthers rolled up 632 total yards of offense at the expense of the Dragons, who were limited to just 198 yards of offense. In a nearly balanced display, Prairie View A&M threw for 338 yards and rushed for 294 yards.
Prairie View A&M wasted no time getting on the board, as senior running back
Dawonya Tucker capped the opening drive with an 11-yard scoring reception from senior quarterback
Jalen Morton. After a three and out by the Dragons, the Panthers continued to move the ball at will as Morton scored on an 18-yard scamper to help increase the lead to 14.
The sides traded turnovers, but the Panthers rebounded on its first possession of the second quarter, as Morton hit junior wide receiver
Jared Scott from 22 yards out to give the Panthers a three-score lead. Scott had a banner day, making four catches for 145 yards. Senior
Amaury Martinez connected on a 28-yard field goal to send Prairie View A&M to the half with a 24-0 lead.
Prairie View A&M continued to pour it on in the second half, converting its second interception of the day into a touchdown compliments of a 1-yard rush by junior quarterback T.J. Starks with 13:34 left in the third quarter. With the Panthers defense continuing to snuff out the Dragons, Prairie View cruised down the stretch as senior running back
Caleb Broach scored from five yards out as the Panthers increased their advantage to 38-0.
To cap an explosive 21-point quarter for the Panthers, Scott hit pay dirt for the second time in the game, hauling in a 58-yard touchdown pass from Starks with 4:37 left in the third. Freshman running back
Ahmad Antoine finished off the scoring bonanza for Prairie View A&M with a 13-yard touchdown run with 7:04 left in the game.
Morton was 10-of-12 with 144 yards and a pair of scores with one interception. Starks accounted for 209 total yards of offense (194 passing) and two total touchdowns. Led by Broach's 66 yards on seven totes, four different Panthers rushed for at least 40 yards. Six different Panther players found the end zone on the day.

Drake Cheatum and freshman defensive lineman Chris Myers led the defensive effort with five stops each.
Reggie Stubblefield and
Antoine Stephens each picked off one pass for the Panthers.
The Panthers have a short week of prep upcoming as they return to action on Thursday, Oct. 24, hitting the road to take on Jackson State. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
