In this sound portrait, we meet poet Ashlyn "Lyn" Stewart. She talks about her inspirations, writing poems at 3 a.m. and winning her first poetry slam. She reads her poem, "05092000."

Born and raised in Humble, Ashlyn "Lyn" Stewart is a freshman at Prairie View A&M University. A three-time member of Meta-Four Houston, she believes in the power of poetry to move others and values artistic expression in all forms. Currently a digital media arts major, she has been passionate about art and literature for as long as she can remember and is always looking for opportunities to grow as an artist.
