PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (Aug. 22, 2025) – Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) President Tomikia P. LeGrande announced today that J. Robert “Bob” McKee has been appointed Senior Vice President for Business Affairs and Chief Financial Officer, effective September 8, 2025.

McKee brings to PVAMU a distinguished career spanning more than 28 years in accounting, business, finance, and organizational leadership across higher education, government, and the private sector. Since 2023, he has served as Senior Vice Chancellor of Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer at Rutgers University–Camden. In this capacity, McKee has overseen budget planning, capital construction, facilities upgrades, and the operations of financial services, human resources, information technology, and auxiliary services. Managing a nearly $250 million budget, he has implemented risk management strategies, ensured service continuity, and supported campus growth through innovative planning and resource development.

Prior to his service at Rutgers, McKee served as Vice President for Finance and Administration at Antioch College, and as Chief Business and Financial Officer for the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Houston, the largest college in the UH system. In that role, he managed a $150 million portfolio and a nearly $60 million endowment, guided leadership transitions, and provided steady operational direction during the shift to remote learning and operations in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. His leadership during this period advanced financial stewardship, operational effectiveness, and institutional resilience. McKee also spent more than a decade in senior leadership positions at the Texas Engineering Extension Service Station, an agency within the Texas A&M University System, where he oversaw budget, finance, human resources, and operations.

A former first responder and nationally recognized leader in emergency management and crisis response, McKee has also been deployed to some of the most significant disaster sites of the past three decades, including the World Trade Center on 9/11, the Columbia Space Shuttle disaster, Hurricane Katrina, and the 2010 Haiti earthquake. His dedication to organizational resilience has shaped his career while also strengthening every institution he has served.

Said President LeGrande, “PVAMU is experiencing a time of tremendous momentum and transformation. Mr. McKee’s breadth of experience and proven leadership in finance and administration will help ensure our continued growth and long-term success. His vision and expertise will be invaluable as we navigate change and pursue new opportunities for the future of Prairie View A&M University.”

“I am deeply honored to join Prairie View A&M University at such a dynamic time in its history. PVAMU’s growth, impact, and trajectory are inspiring, and I am excited to contribute my experience to advancing the University’s mission of providing educational opportunities to students”, said McKee.  He added, “I look forward to working alongside President LeGrande, the administration, faculty, staff, and students to support the ambitious goals outlined in the ‘Journey to Eminence: 2035’ strategic plan. Together, we will ensure PVAMU’s continued financial strength and operational excellence as we build an even brighter future.”

McKee earned his B.A. in Management and Business from Antioch College and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in Leadership, Management, and Policy at New Jersey City University.
