Prairie View A&M officially welcomes new president

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (KBTX) - Prairie View A&M University held an inauguration ceremony for its 9th president Friday.
Dr. Tomikia LeGrande is the 2nd female president in the school’s 147-year history. She was presented with the Presidential Medallion by Chancellor of The Texas A&M University System John Sharp.
President LeGrande previously worked in higher education at Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Houston-Downtown.
LeGrande replaces Dr. Ruth Simmons as the university’s president. Simmons was appointed president in 2017.
