Billy Davis Tapped as Director of Alumni Affairs

Billy Davis, a 1991 PVAMU alumnus, has been tapped as Director of Alumni Affairs. In this critical alumni role, Billy is tasked with building relationships with a wide range of alumni; communicating with alumni through a variety of media; and collaborating with colleagues in a range of university offices to create and maintain pathways for strong alumni participation.  Additionally, Billy will be responsible for serving as a liaison between the National Alumni Association and regional alumni organizations and campus leadership. His tenure begins July 16, 2018.

An active and proud PVAMU alumnus, Billy served as president of the Prairie View A&M University-Dallas Alumni Chapter and was a board member of the Prairie View A&M University National AlumniAssociation from 2012-2017.  Additionally, he has served since 2013 as a Prairie View A&M Foundation trustee representing the National Alumni Association.

Instrumental in establishing the Dallas Alumni Chapter’s first endowment, which provides financial support to students, he led numerous initiatives, including increasing scholarships provided to incoming Freshmen from the Dallas area, completing a $200,000 commitment for the Panther Stadium project, and developing leadership roles for millennial alumni resulting in their increased participation within the chapter.

A native of Dallas, Texas, Billy has had a professional telecommunications career spanning more than 20 years.  He provided global technical support resulting in increased efficiency and quality of sales proposals and enhanced end-to-end solutions that improved Nokia’s hardware and software delivery process. His technical expertise will be of great value in establishing a reliable, searchable alumni database.

Billy’s passion for Prairie View is evident and he strongly believes in generously giving back to his alma mater which, he says, has given so much to him and others. His highest goal is to build relationships and inspire alumni to be involved in the great legacy of PVAMU.

“Prairie View A&M University continues to produce productive people.  It has a bright future ahead with unlimited opportunities for growth.  Our alumni family plays a major role in our continued success and I am excited to work with our alumni to get them engaged as we make the university the best that it can be for future generations of Panthers,” said Billy.

Please join in welcoming Billy back to the “Hill”.
