 How to become a tutor

Working with other students in a helping role will provide you with some of the most valuable experience you could ever get during your college years.

Students interested in becoming tutors in need to fill out the Tutor Application and email the following documents to

  • Resume
  • Unofficial Transcript

Applicants meeting the qualifications will be selected and contacted for an interview.  If selected as a peer tutor, applicants will be scheduled for mandatory training which must be completed BEFORE working as a tutor.

Tutor Requirements

  • Be an enrolled undergraduate with at least a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Submit required documents to the Tutoring Center
  • Have received a B or better in one of the courses listed below
  • Attend mandatory training for tutors
  • Tutor at least 12-15 hours per week, but no more than 20
  • Be able to tutor 2 subsequent semesters
  • Be able to tutor at least 3 different subjects
  • Provide a letter of recommendation from professors of courses you will tutor
