Proctored Exams

A proctored exam is an exam that is administered by an individual who supervises the student while they are taking the exam. The proctor’s function is to ensure the integrity and security of the exam in a secure testing environment.

Institutional Proctored Exams

Exams for Prairie View A&M University courses.

  • Instructor Procedure for scheduling an Institutional Proctored Exam:
    • Submit completed PVAMU Test Proctoring Form
    • Receive email confirmation of proctored exam date from Testing Center.
    • Inform students of proctored exam date and what items they need to bring for testing
  • Student Procedure for scheduling an Institutional Proctored Exam:
    • Instructor will inform students of the exam date and what to bring with them for testing.
    • On exam date, students can arrive anytime between 9 AM - 3 PM to have the exam administered to them.
    • No student will be admitted for testing after 3 PM. Any student arriving after 3 PM that is not admitted will need to contact the instructor.
    • REMEMBER: There is no charge for PVAMU students taking a proctored exam for a PVAMU course.
Non-Institutional Proctored Exams

Exams for Non-Prairie View A&M University courses. Also, Non-Prairie View A&M University students should follow these procedures when setting up a proctored exam.

  • Instructor Procedure for scheduling an Non-Institutional Proctored Exam:
    • Submit a completed PVAMU Test Proctoring Form
    • Receive email confirmation from Testing Center that Proctored Exams has been received.
    • Inform students that the Testing Center has the proctored Exam and that they must schedule an appointment to take the exam.
  • Student Procedure for scheduling a Non-Institutional Proctored Exam:
    • Confirm with instructor that they have submitted a completed PVAMU Test Proctoring Form
    • Schedule an appointment.
      • Proctored Exams appointments can be made anytime, Tuesday-Thursday from 9 AM - 3 PM. No student will be admitted for testing after 3 PM.
    • Pay Administration Fee
    • Verified that you have received the Proctored Exam Approval Form from the Testing Center - this will have more details regarding your testing date.

Identification Requirements

Unless otherwise stated on PVAMU Test Proctoring Form, identification requirements will be as followed: you are required to present one form of identification. This identification must be current or have expired with 90 days of your test date and must contain a recent and recognizable photo of you.

Acceptable Forms of Identification

  • Driver’s License
  • Passport Book or Card
  • State-Issued ID Card
  • US Military ID Card (Common Access Card or CAC)
  • US Permanent Resident Card (Green Card)
  • PVAMU Student ID

Exam Fees

  • No charge for PVAMU Students taking a proctored exam for a PVAMU course.
  • $25 fee for PVAMU students taking a proctored exam for a non-PVAMU course.
  • $40 for Non-PVAMU students.
    • All administration fees MUST be paid prior to your arrival for testing via online through the PV Marketplace or in cash at the cashier’s window in the W.R. Banks building. Students will need to bring a copy of their receipt as proof of payment for all cash payments. All administration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

After The Exam

We will follow all rules listed on the PVAMU Test Proctoring Form provided by your instructor. If nothing is specified, The Testing Center will keep all paper-based exams on file until the end of the semester and then they will be destroyed. If the computer does not show you a score after your exam, you will need to obtain your score from your instructor.
