Billy Monroe received his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2008. He teaches a wide variety of courses in American Politics and Public Law. He joined Prairie View A&M in 2009 after appointments at UT-Dallas and Stephen F. Austin State University. His research interests include judicial politics (state judicial selection/elections and the U.S. Supreme Court) and Texas politics. His current research projects include a comparison of election politics between the Texas Supreme Court and Texas Court of Criminal Appeals (both general and primary election results), as well as articles on the history of judicial selection in Texas (including reform movements).
