Homecoming is an exciting weeklong tradition that generates enthusiasm among faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community members alike. Our activities culminate with the always popular Stage Breakers Step Show and After Party on Friday, October 10, 2014, 8:00PM as well as the Homecoming Concert on Saturday, October 11, 2014, 8:00PM featuring Young JEEZY.

Sunday, October 5, 2014

10 am: Chapel Service

Johnson-Phillip All Faiths Chapel
Start your homecoming week off right with a great message during morning service in our Johnson-Phillip All Faiths Chapel.

11 am – 4 pm: Panther Prep Day

Willie A. Tempton, Sr. Memorial Student Center – North Lawn
Student organizations and volunteers will decorate the campus and paint the streets purple and gold in preparation for Homecoming Week 2014.

7 pm: Gospel Fest

PVAMU welcomes Byron Cage as the headlining gospel-recording artist for our Homecoming 2014 Gospel Fest. You will also bear witness to PV’s own Baptist Student Movement and the PV Mime Ministry, as well as other local performance groups.

Roller Skating and novelty games will set the scene for this night of homecoming. Come test your balance on 8 wheels and the many games we will have for our Roller Jam game night. Door prizes will be given away.

Wednesday – October 8, 2014

Noon – 2 pm: Hump Day on the Hill – The Homecoming Edition

Alumni Field
Come see and be seen at Hump Day filled with special guest and performances.  This year, we are calling out all Greek alumni, faculty and staff to come out and show the campus how we use to get down! Wear your paraphernalia and be recognized by the crowd.

7:30 pm: Mr. and Miss Prairie View A&M University Coronation and Ball

Join the PVAMU family for the official crowning of Mr. Roger Thomas III and Miss Ashlee Sherman, our Mr. and Miss PVAMU 2014 – 2015, during the Annual Homecoming Coronation and Ball. During this formal affair, spectators will witness the presentation of the student organization royalty as they salute the Pantherland Royal Court. The Royal Ball immediately follows in the Memorial Student Center Ballroom.

Thursday – October 9, 2014

11 am: Lunch with the President and Administration

Come and enjoy a Homecoming lunch with the President of Prairie View A&M University and the University’s administrative team. Dress to impress and have your photo taken with the Prez! (1 print per person)

5:15 pm: Purple and Gold Preview – Mock Funeral, Pep Rally, and Bon Fire

This series of spirit events marks the eve of the Homecoming Weekend and Football Game. Helps us “put to rest” the Alabama State Hornets at our Mock Funeral performed by the Gilpin Players on the MSC North Lawn. Then follow the processional to a pep rally featuring the PVAMU Marching Storm and Cheerleaders, all before the lighting of the Bon Fire.

8 pm: Homecoming Talent Show

“Prairie View Produces Productive Performers”

Come see our student talent take the stage at the largest Talent Show of the Year.  This year’s talent show will feature special guest performers and acts from all over campus.  You will be entertained.

Alumni Conversations: TY Walker – Filmmaker “Carter High Movie”
“Destiny is not by chance, but by choice.” Come and support PVAMU Alumnus, Ty Walker, as he shares his journey of the trials and triumphs that led to his new found passion of filmmaking. Walker will also share more about his upcoming movie, “Carter High: The Movie” a controversial drama about the 1988 David W. Carter Cowboys Football team. Come out and enjoy an afternoon of enlightenment and inspiration, that will hopefully motivate you to make your dreams a reality.

9:15 am: Homecoming Parade

The “Parade of Champions” returns featuring bands, floats and other participating groups. Brace yourself as the sounds and sites travel through beautiful downtown Prairie View, Texas via University Drive. This year we will celebrate esteemed Alumna Opal Johnson Smith will lead the “Parade of Champions” in commemoration of her dedication and service to PVAMU. The parade culminates on the campus of PVAMU by way of L.W. Minor Street. Get there early for a good seat!

11 am: Reunion Row Opens.

O.J. Thompson Street in front of the “Baby Dome”
With everything from food to games, exhibits and vendors, Reunion Row is the place to be seen. Booths will be set up well into the evening.

2:00 pm: Football Game – PVAMU Panthers versus the Alabama State Hornets

Watch as the Panthers take on the Alabama State Hornets as their 2014 Homecoming competitors.

8 pm: Homecoming Concert feat. Young Jeezy
