How can I apply for student employment?
Work Study funds are limited, therefore by submitting your FAFSA before the deadline will increase your chances to receive work study funds. If you are awarded funds you must contact the Student Employment office for orientation dates. Visit http://www.pvamu.edu/pages/1681.asp for further information.

I have not received SAR form?
Review your Panthertracks account for information needed to process your Financial Aid. You can also check www.fafsa.ed.gov to ensure you selected Prairie View A&M University as your school. (school code 003630)
What is Verification?
Annually, the Central Processor selects 30% of an institution’s student population for a process called verification. If your application is selected for Verification, or if there are discrepancies on your application information, we will send you a letter that will outline the documents you will be required to provide. Do not submit any documents unless we ask you to do so. Aid funds cannot be disbursed to you until you submit all requested documents and the accuracy of your information has been checked. This can take six weeks or longer.
NOTE: students who receive financial aid based on incorrect information may be required to pay it back. Anyone who intentionally gives false or misleading information on aid applications may be subject to a fine of $10,000, receive a prison sentence, or both.
Will my financial aid cover everything? Books?
To increase the likelihood that your financial aid will cover all University associated costs, you should complete the FAFSA as soon as possible. There are, however, some cases that high familial income levels cause parents to apply for credit based Federal PLUS Loans to pay University costs. Please remember, students with federal subsidized and unsubsidized loans have to wait thirty (30) days before their funds can be disbursed. Therefore, students must initially pay for books and then be reimbursed when the funds arrive.
Will my financial aid cover my housing expenses?
Fall 2009 Changes for PVAMU Student Bills – Housing Charges
Current Housing Charges:
Beginning the Fall 2009 semester, students that have signed up for on campus housing to be paid for by student financial aid awards (loans, scholarships, grants, etc.) will have their current housing charges on their PVAMU Student Bill for tuition, fees, and other charges and in PANTHERTRACKS. The student would have given University Village or University College a copy of their current award letter to verify their financial aid award.
This change will provide the on campus housing student with the amount of housing that is due and that the financial aid the student receives will be reduced to pay for current on campus housing charges. If the student and/or parents/guardians should make a payment directly to University Village or University College, the direct payment will be reflected on the student bill as a “Payment Made to Housing”.
Unpaid housing charges will be taken off the student’s bill toward the end of the semester as “Unpaid Housing – See Housing”. Students will have to work directly with University Village or University College for payments of any past due balances for on campus housing.
Students that have signed up for on campus housing and have agreed to pay for on campus housing directly to University Village or University College will not have their housing charges on their PVAMU Student Bill for tuition, fees, and other charges. No housing charges or housing payments will be reflected on the PVAMU Student Bill or in PANTHERTRACKS.
Past Due Housing Charges:
Past due on campus housing charges will not show up on the students’ bill. All past due on campus housing charges will be paid directly to University Village or University College. If a student has past due housing charges from a previous semester a Housing Hold will be place on the student.
As a reminder, students will be dropped from classes during the PVAMU official drop dates for past due on campus housing charges due to University Village or University College. Drop dates are posted on PANTHERTRACKS and on Current Students-Important Tuition Information at http://www.pvamu.edu/pages/5276.asp
Students can go to PANTHERTRACKS and if a housing hold has been placed on their student account, this indicates a past due balance for on campus housing charges. The student will need to contact University Village or University College regarding the past due balance.
