Mason D. Barrett
Administrative Judge with the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)

Mason D. Barrett is an administrative judge in the Federal Hearings Unit of the Birmingham District Office of the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). Judge Barrett is responsible for hearing employment discrimination cases brought by federal employees and applicants for federal employment in the states of Alabama, Florida, and Mississippi. Judge Barrett has a long career in employment law and civil rights.
Prior to his appointment, he served as Director of the EEOC’s Savannah Local Office, and as Senior Trial Attorney in the EEOC’s Birmingham District Office. A native of Linden, Texas, Judge Barrett earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Denver College of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from PVAMU. Judge Barrett has also taught Legal Research and Writing at Miles Law School, an HBCU in Birmingham, Alabama. Barrett has taught or mentored approximately twenty (20) percent of all Miles Law School graduates currently admitted to the practice of law in the state of Alabama. He has also tutored and mentored law students who have passed the bar examinations of the states of Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.
