The goal of the Theatre Program is to educate and empower students to reach their full potential as artists and individuals. Throughout the 4 years of study towards a Bachelor of Arts (BA) Degree in Theatre, our Majors have the opportunity to explore their potential as actors, directors, designers and techs, stage managers, playwrights, pre-scholars and to go wherever their inspiration, dedication and abilities may lead. Theatre courses and performance opportunities are also available for students interested in the Theatre Minor or Course Electives. Learn more about the Theatre Degree Plan and Courses here.
The Theatre curriculum and departmental activities are designed to support students who have multiple interests in theatre. Students are prepared academically and artistically for a broad range of careers in professional theatre, graduate school, or jobs in education, public relations and communications. Alumni have successfully pursued graduate degrees and enjoy a broad range of careers as professional actors, educators, directors, designers, theatre administrators and more. Learn more about our alumni and/or join our alumni list, here.
The Theatre Department and the Charles Gilpin Players produce 2-4 mainstage productions each year in The Anne Campbell Theatre, a 150-seat black box also used for student-directed projects, student recitals and numerous troupe performances on-campus and in the community at large. Every year a diverse season of productions are offered to provide further training for students and to contribute to the cultural enrichment of PVAMU and the community at large. Auditions for mainstage productions are open to all PVAMU students! Learn more about our upcoming performances below.

Department of Theatre & the Charles Gilpin Players present:
Almost, Maine written by John Cariani
Directed by Suzanne Jennings
On a cold, clear, moonless night in the middle of winter, all is not quite what it seems in the mythical town of Almost, Maine. Almost's residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend—almost—in this delightful midwinter night's dream.
