                                           Wash Away

The story begins with a woman and a man, but not quite as you would think
For the tale begins as a romance but ends as a tragedy
The truth of this hurt will haunt the casualty of this war called sex, ever time they blink
If you are fortunate; you will chose to give away your love, but this victim was not that lucky

Ladies first, or at least that is what he said as she stepped into the house
He was such a gentleman, or so his looks had her believe
Small talk was his appetizer, and he proceeded to the main course by complimenting her blouse
Then they went to his room to “talk” and “watch movies” but his charming looks did deceive

For underneath his innocence and kind nature did his vulgarity hide
He offered to bring her a drink, and she eagerly yet politely accepted
She figured that perhaps a glass of wine would give her a shot of confidence inside
He calculated the fact of a sip for her allowing him to enter places she had previously rejected

Then he proceeded to the kitchen, and assured her he would be back soon
So steadily he poured the wine, but in her glass he added a little extra something
Then he so slyly returned to his unsuspecting victim, and the crime scene known as his room
He handed her doom in a cup and requested that she share her goals which were so intriguing

Before finishing her third sentence after her fifth sip she had lost consciousness
He wasted no time taking advantage of her; he raped her mind then defiled her bodily remains
Then he re-applied her clothes with the gentlest touch birthed from a predator’s kindness
She wakes, feeling violated and strange, so she takes a shower to wash away shame’s chains

She hopes that the water will wash away her overwhelming emotional pain
She answers her roommate’s questions about her welfare with a simple heart-wrenching “fine”
She temporarily fools herself into believing that lies will wash away the hurt driving her insane
She gazes into the mirror and her conscious stares back at her as an excruciating hazard sign

Externally, she replicates and portrays the bliss that she desires to internally behold
…and patiently waits for a time in which she can be alone, to cleanse herself fully
So, she cleanses herself thoroughly enough to leave her body alone, in her tub, cold
Her loving roommate finds her, and cries tears of regret when she is laid to rest so peacefully

To all predators, for the victim’s sake, change your ways ensure the passion fatalities are fewer
I bid you, take heed to the effects of this tragedy and its underlying hurt, this day
For there is a hurt so deep that life, for some, may not cure
If the status quo doesn’t change, there will be damage that only a lethal shower can wash away
