Hiring Conditions for Employment

The Student Employment Office is currently accepting Job Announcements for the 2012 Spring semester.

Supervisors must advertise all semester student employment positions on the Student Employment Website. The job posting is posted on the SEO website for fifteen (15) business days from the date the position was posted. The minimal number of days a job posting can be posted on the SEO website is five (5) business days with written justification. A Job Description Form must be completed and submitted to the SEO via email at seo@pvamu.edu in order to advertise a semester student position. Job Descriptions forms should not be faxed, or emailed to another address.  Job Description Form.

Open Hire Period:

During January 9, 2012 through February 10, 2012, the Student Employment Office will be processing student workers for hire with no specific hire date (1st and 15th waived) or paperwork deadlines. Student’s must complete the employment process (paperwork and orientations), and the EWR must be approved by the Student Employment Office prior to the student starting work.

Work study students returning to work on January 2, 2012 will have earnings come out of their Spring semester awards.

Student’s anticipating a work start date of February 15, 2012 will have a deadline for paperwork of February 8, 2012.

All Student Workers:

New Hire Student Workers may be employed to work for the Spring semester from January 2 through May 16, 2012 if only working one (1) semester.

Students are not permitted to work during the following study day(s): May 2-3, 2012.

Students are not permitted to begin working until the Employee Wage Request (EWR) has been approved by SEO and completed the routing through the Budget Office. Departments allowing students to begin working prior to SEO approvals will receive a violation letter. 

Monitoring Work Study Earnings.

Work study students are not allowed to exceed their allocated funds for the semester. See procedure.
